New microconsole allows users to play Vita games on their TV screen

Sony unveils PlayStation Vita TV

It’s been a busy morning for Sony.

Not content with confirming a Japanese release date for PS4 and announcing a brand new design for the PlayStation Vita, the company has also surprised onlookers with the reveal of completely new piece of hardware.

It’s called PS Vita TV. It’s a microconsole that plugs directly into a user’s TV and allows them to play Vita and PSP games using a DualShock 3 controller, as well as access streaming video and TV services.

The unit itself is just 10cm long and 6cm wide.

PS Vita TV will launch in Japan on November 14th priced at ¥9,480 (£61). A bundle including an 8GB memory card and joypad will cost ¥14,280 (£92).
