Local multiplayer projects get the greenlight after raising $155,000

Sportsfriends Kickstarter funded with hours to go

The crowdfunding campaign for Sportsfriends has surpassed its $150,000 funding goal on Kickstarter with just hours to go.

The project had previously struggled to gather momentum in its bid to reach its lofty funding target, but has rallied over the last few days thanks to appeals by a number of developers and media outlets in the gaming community.

At nine hours to go, the project still had to raise an extra $3,000 to ensure the project could go ahead, and has now garnered $155,399 from 3,788 backers with just hours remaining to ensure that it met its target.

The Sportsfriends Kickstarter includes local multiplayer titles such as Johann Sebastian Joust, BaraBariBall, Super Pole Riders and Hokra. The funds for the project will be used to take the titles, which are already in the prototype stage, to completion.

Those who pledged more than $60 will also receive a number of unreleased games by developers such as Bennett Foddy, Noah Sasso and Ramiro Corbetta.
