Valve tested Dota 2 on tablets, determined technology not there yet

Valve wants to bring Dota 2 to tablets, but the existing tech won’t allow for it quite yet.

Speaking with Kotaku at the VGAs last week, Valve boss Gabe Newell revealed the potential port when asked about any interesting software projects in the works.

"We were working on getting Dota 2 running on some tablets," Newell said. "That ended up being kind of a disappointment. But the good news is that tablets are getting faster very quickly, so I think we’ll get the kind of performance we want and other game developers want in the near future."

Newell sees the MOBA game as a good one for us to test” with the touch-screen interface of the iPad and Android tablets.

Dota 2 is currently available for early test access purchase on PC and Mac, though at the moment the title lacks any specific release target.
