UK developers invited to create apps for health, beauty and nutrition industries

The Hut Group hosts £100,000 Game of Code competition

Online retailer The Hut Group is reaching out to developers by hosting a £100,000 competition for app creation.

Entitled ‘Game of Code’, the contest is aimed at UK studios and challenges devs to build an app that might be useful for the health, beauty or nutrition industries.

The Hut Group runs 65 health, beauty and fitness websites but it is also known as the power behind games outlets such as Nintendo’s online store and entertainment retailer Zavvi.

The firm is also hoping to find new and promising digital and creative talent through the competition, opening entry to anyone above the age of 18.

The competition is split into three stages, starting with the submission of entrants ideas. The best ideas will be invited to the second stage, where The Hut Group will given them access to key data and task participants with building a working version of their concept.

The best teams will be shortlisted by a public vote in the third stage, before being invited to an awards ceremony in London where the winner – decided by senior executives from The Hut Group and industry specialists – will receive £100,000. Finalists will also be considered for internships at The Hut Group.

You can find out more at the Game of Code website.
