UK businesses heading out to GamesCom can apply for cash to help promote their work

Tiga offering cash for devs to showcase overseas

UK developers attending Cologne’s GamesCom event in August may be able to apply for a £1,000 grant to help exhibit their work.

Game trade body Tiga is partnering with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) to support certain companies going to Gamescom, using a fund pool provided by UKTI’s Tradeshow Access Programme.

The idea is that the scheme will further help and encourage the promotion of UK developers, businesses and intellectual properties in other countries.

“We are delighted to be able to offer this benefit to our members. We hope this kind of funding assistance will make it possible for more UK developers to showcase their expertise to the global gaming community,” said Tiga CEO Richard Wilson, suggesting here that the grant may only be available to Tiga members.

The £1,000 fund can be available to GamesCom exhibitors from the UK if they apply to certain conditions. Each recipient of the grant will need to be a Small & Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) set to go to GamesCom, providing they are new to exporting or have been exporting for less than 10 years, or if they have not attended the previous GamesCom event.

Interested parties need to contact Tiga for an application form.
