Former Microsoft casual boss to head up new Ubisoft department

Ubi ramps up digital dev budget

Ubisoft is to open a new department focused on digital publishing, appointing former Microsoft casual gaming boss Chris Early.

The division will concentrate its efforts on a wide range of platforms, including iPhone, console, PC and web.

“Our focus on digital publishing will be about operating games as an online service,” said Early, now vice president of digital publishing, in an interview with VentureBeat.

“We have some catching up to do. What we lack is a consistent breadth of experience. We can draw upon what we have learned. What we bring to the table is experience in making great gaming content and great game brands.”
