Brazilian developer 'reinforces commitment to attracting talent in South America', says Burgess-Quemard

Ubisoft acquires Southlogic

Ubisoft has acquired Brazilian developer Southlogic, the country’s longest-standing independent developer.

The team, which comprises of around 20 people, has previously worked for European, Japanese and American publishers, most recently making Imagine: Wedding Designer for Ubisoft. It will be integrated into Ubisoft Sao Paulo, the company’s most recent studio opening, but will keep its offices in Porto Alegre and act as a satellite office.

"As Brazil’s most experienced and premier development studio, Southlogic has proven its agility in adapting to new technologies and genres on a variety of platforms," said Christine Burgess-Quémard, executive director of worldwide studios at Ubisoft.

"This acquisition reinforces our commitment to attracting talent in South America, and Brazil in particular, further boosting the group’s ambitious expansion plans."

Christian Lykawka, founder of Southlogic, added: "We have been delighted with our collaboration with Ubisoft on their Imagine line of games. The entire Southlogic team is excited about the potential for growth and development as part of Ubisoft Sao Paulo, and having our creations reach players throughout the world."
