15 person team expands the publisher's presence in Eastern Europe

Ubisoft open new development studio in Serbia

Ubisoft have announced they’re opening a production studio in Belgrade, Serbia, expanding their presence in Eastern Europe and joining Ubisoft’s other three Eastern European studios in Bucharest, Sofia and Kiev.

Currently there are 15 team members in the Serbian office and the team has already been collaborating on the PC version of the forthcoming Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, although the team is expected to expand to 40 members over the course of 2017. Currently the small team is mostly programmers, although Ubisoft has said that they’ll be looking to widen their job roles at the studio in the future. Ubisoft currently employ nearly 2,000 staff in the region.

Ubisoft are one of the first to set up international development studios in the region, setting up a studio in Bucharest, Romania 25 years ago.

"Serbia has a lot to offer in terms of talent, in particular tech professionals. We’re always on the lookout for high potential markets with the passion, skills and expertise to create the very best games, and Serbia’s reputation in several key fields makes this investment the perfect match," said Sebastien Delen, the managing director, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Kiev and Ubisoft Belgrade.

"We are bringing years of expertise to the Serbian market and want to contribute to the development of the local gaming industry, as we did for the other countries in the region."
