Studio will reportedly also play a key role in CG film and TV show productions

Ubisoft’s 3D game efforts to be HQ’d from Quebec City, says report

A report on Canadian games site Gamefocus claims that Ubisoft’s Quebec City studio will become the ‘official headquarters’ of the firm’s recently announced push into making games that use 3D display technology.

The company confirmed at its Ubidays event last week that upcoming game Avatar, based on the movie by James Cameron – which also uses 3D technology – would be in 3D.

But while that game is being produced by a team at Ubisoft’s French studios, Gamefocus says that going forward all activity behind the 3D push will be done by managed by Quebec City’s Ubisoft studio.

The team there opened in April 2005 – Ubisoft announced in 2007 that the studio, along with Ubisoft Montreal, would become a key part of a new CGI production team put in place to produce films and shorts based on its properties.
