UK Games Fund now accepting applications for next round of £25k grants

The UK Games Fund, a government-backed grant programme, has now opened its fourth round of funding, giving up to £25k to developers already in the process of creating a game. Alongside the ‘Round 4’ funding channel, a new ‘pitch development programme’ has also opened. This gives developers in the early stages of development an opportunity to receive up to £10k to “refine and improve pitching skills and develop a playable demo over the course of the summer”, according to the UK Games Fund website.

Historically, the £25k grants are hugely competitive “due to the large volume of high quality applications” that the funding body receives. Though this shouldn’t prevent you from applying. The UKGF site has some handy hints for developers looking to get their hands on the grants, such as having a development team in place already, and understanding your unique selling point.

For the new pitch development programme, requirements are more lenient. Successful developers will need to “be able to complete [their] funded work using the £5,000 award between April – September 2018”. Applicants can apply for either Round 4 funding or the pitch development programme, but not both.

23rd February is the closing date for both of these funding channels, which gives you a month to put together your application. You’ll want to read up on the full details, hints and tips before doing it.
