Rocksteady, Six to Start and Piranha Bytes writers in contention for top prize

UK Writers Guild names videogame script nominees

Batman: Arkham City, Zombies, Run! And Risen 2 have been named as nominees for the UK Writers’ Guild Awards 2012.

The awards show, which has been running since 2007, credits the work of script writers across the country in areas such as feature film, best drama, screenplay and videogames.

Paul Crocker has been nominated for his work on Batman: Arkham City, which see’s Batman take on the Joker and Hugo Strange in the Develop-Award winning hit by Rocksteady.

Another Develop Award-nominated game Zombies, Run! by Six to Start and written by Naomi Alderman also made the list. The mobile app is designer for joggers, encouraging them to find various items and run away from zombie hordes.

Lastly Gordon Rennie, Alan Barnes and Emma Beeby have been selected for their work on Piranha Bytes’ Risen 2, which focuses on Pirates taking on monsters and ancient gods.

The winners for the 2012 Writers’ Guild Awards will be announced on November 14th at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill.
