UK studio behind tech’s PlayStation development is now part of Unity Technologies

Unity acquires Engine Room Games

Unity has announced it has acquired one of its partner studios, which was previously contracted to handle the engine’s development for PlayStation platforms.

UK developer Engine Room Games will now become an official Unity studio, continuing its work on Unity support for PlayStation VR, according to the tech firm’s official blog.

Engine Room will also “contribute to other areas of Unity development including particles and general optimisation”.

“Since early 2013, Engine Room Games have contracted with Unity, but we’ve recently been fortunate enough to be able to persuade the team to join us on a permanent basis,” Unity’s Steffen Toksvig wrote.

“This makes us happy, because it means that the future of Unity PlayStation development is in very good hands.”
