Google among companies that could potentially acquire firm behind widely-used engine

Unity in talks to sell, reports claim

Rumours persist that Unity is up for sale, with recent reports suggesting the engine firm has already been in talks with at least one buyer.

The notion began with a recent VentureBeat article claiming that Unity’s executives were investigating the possibility of selling the company for as much as $2bn.

Now CNET is reporting that Unity has ‘shared presentations with possible acquirers’ and has ‘had serious talks with at least one would-be buyer in recent months’. The site cited "people familiar with the matter" as its source.

Google was named as one of the firms that could potentially acquire Unity.

There is confusion as to whether Unity is actively seeking acquisition, or simply responding to interested parties, and the company has yet to comment.
