Movement-tracking tech available for pre-order

VR Virtuix Omni treadmill shipping in September

Virtuix’s Omni treadmill designed for gaming is now available for pre-order.

The tech, which tracks a player’s movement in-game, can be used in conjunction with a virtual reality headset and game controller.

Consumers can buy the Virtuix Omni for $499, which includes the platform itself, shoes, a belt and tracking hardware and software. There is also a duel package available for $1,019 that includes two treadmills and three pairs of shoes.

Although it was previously anticipated to be delivered by March 2014, the treadmills are now expected to ship in September.

Last year the tech successfully garnered $1.1 million from 3,249 backers during its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.
