Virtuix Omni VR treadmill on track for September release

Omni-directional VR treadmill Virtuix Omni will begin shipping in September.

The device, which allows players to simulate walking in any direction while playing virtual reality games, smashed its Kickstarter target last June.

The Omni is priced at $499 (excluding what are likely to be pretty significant shipping fees). For the money buyers get the treadmill, some shoes and a support harness.

What you don’t get for the price is an Oculus Rift or controller of any sort.

There’s also the option to order two Omni’s in a twin pack… for $1,019. Which unless we’re missing something is a bit odd. Although you do get a third pair of shoes for the money.

Don’t forget that for an extra $79 you can also get the Omni Rack that clips on to the frame and allows you to use a mouse and keyboard.

Kickstarter backers were at one stage able to secure a unit for a pledge price of $249.
