Warner confirms layoffs at Turbine

Boston-based development studio Turbine has been hit with a round of layoffs this week, publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has confirmed.

The company told CVG they layoffs were part of its normal business process,” and the result of strategic alignment.”

Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions,” WBIE vice president of worldwide public relations Remi Sklar said.

These are always tough decisions, which we don’t approach lightly, but it’s crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace.”

No word on the specific number of employees affected. Turbine is currently developing the DC comics-inspired MOBA Infinite Crisis, and is also responsible for Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeon & Dragons Online.
