Xbox Live transactions grow 20% to boost revenues

Microsoft has made its report for Q4 of fiscal year 2013, which shows the company continuing to grow its revenues despite a console transition and harsh PC market.

The good news is perhaps a bit surprising, as one might expect some gloom and doom in the quarterly report of a company that has just lost a major executive and has announced dramatic restructuring.

The biggest success for the Entertainment and Devices Division was its Windows Phone business, which grew by $134 million.

Microsoft’s Xbox division sold a million consoles – down a hundred thousand from last year – but grew its Xbox Live transaction revenue by twenty per cent.

Only losing a hundred thousand sales from last year is pretty impressive considering the impending launch of the Xbox one this holiday season.

Overall, Microsoft’s revenue climbed to $19.9 billion from $18 billion last year.
