Nordisk Film continues games investment with $5m in RETO MOTO

Denmark based cinema and film distribution company Nordisk Film is continuing to support the nordic games industry by investing in developer RETO MOTO in Copenhagen. Set up by the original creators of IO Interactive, RETO MOTO creates Heroes and Generals and will now enjoy a $5m cash injection to expand the game’s global community, which already stands at over twelve million registered users.

This comes months after Nordisk Film made a similar investment into Avalanche Studios, one of the larger development studios in Sweden, which has been relatively quiet since the release of Just Cause 3 in 2015. Previous to that the film company had made investments into Copenhagen based developers Flashbulb Games and Multiverse, showing a continued commitment to growing the nordic games industry through partnership deals.

“The deal with Nordisk Film is very exciting,” said Jean-Marc Broyer, CEO of RETO MOTO. “Partnering with such a competent investor is a validation of our mission to deliver the ultimate WW2 game experience and it will help us realize RETO MOTO’s full potential. We have our eyes set on aggressive growth in the international gaming market and we are pleased to work with the team at Nordisk Film to achieve our objectives.”

The deal means that Mikkel Weider, managing director of Nordisk Films, as well as its Senior Partner Martin Walfisz, will join the board of RETO MOTO.

“RETO MOTO is an experienced and well-run game studio with a huge appetite for growth,” says Weider. “Heroes & Generals is an ambitious online game combining a first person shooter, character progression mechanics and unique elements of the strategy genre. RETO MOTO is founded and run by some of the best game developers in the world, it fits our portfolio perfectly and we are thrilled to be working with them in developing the company further.”
