Devolver Digital gives backing to YouTubers

Can you post and monetise videos of Devolver games? Yes, emphatically yes.

The MCV Awards nominated indie publisher has, in a presumed response to Nintendo’s controversial revenue sharing demands, made it clear that it is perfectly happy for video makers to stream its games and keep all the ad revenue for themselves.

It’s even created a website with the URL canipostandmonetizevideosofdevolvergames.com to hit home the point. Refreshing the page cycles through a number of answers to the question, actually.

Nintendo last week unveiled a scheme where it would hold back any potential content ID claims on videos using footage from its games for those who enter into an agreement to share ad revenue from their videos.

Some YouTubers, such as PewDiePie, were critical of the move. The Swede even launched the f-bomb, saying: What they are missing out on completely is the free exposure and publicity that they get from YouTubers. What better way to sell/market a game, than from watching someone else (that you like) playing it and enjoying themselves?”
