EA copyright claim forces fan-made Trump Mass Effect spoof offline

A pro-Donald Trump campaign video modelled around the trailer for EA’s Mass Effect 2 has been forced offline by the publisher.

Game Informer reports that Trump retweeted what appeared to be a fan-made video that used the music and Martin Sheen voice-over from the Mass Effect short to promote the Republican hopeful’s campaign.

A number of current and former BioWare developers expressed their displeasure on Twitter at the idea of Trump using material from their game to further his goals. EA then quickly issued a copyright claim that at first forced the video off YouTube and subsequently led to the removal of Trump’s tweet.

"The video was an unauthorized use of our IP," EA said. "We do not support our assets being used in political campaigns."

The video, which was shared by an account called @immigrant4trump, can still be seen here.
