Overwatch Alienware Monthly Melee gets big prize pool boost

Alienware has announced that the prize pool for its Overwatch Monthly Melee events will now be $10,000.

Previously the monthly competitions only offered up $5,000 per month, meaning top teams would often skip the competition. It is hoped that with the new amount of money all the top teams that are not over in Korea will take part.

February’s Melee will be the first to feature the prize pool, and while dates are yet to be announced it is expected to be on the last weekend of the month.

Top North American sides that are not currently in the OGN Apex League are expected to compete, as the winners will walk away with $6,000. Not bad for an online event. The runners up will take $3,000 and third place will grab the remaining $1,000.

Three tournaments have been confirmed to have the $10,000 prize pool, including February’s event.
