WME|IMG loses four strong esports team

WME|IMG, the company behind the CS:GO Major ELEAGUE and training platform Boomeo, has seen its esports team depart the company.

The team, comprised of four members and led by Tobias Sherman, was key for allowing WME|IMG to establish itself in the esports sphere, assisting WME|IMG in striking several deals in esports, launching the Boomeo training platform, striking deals with Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting company and also helping to broker the deal between the Philadelphia 76ers, Apex and Team Dignitas.

Sherman’s entire team departed the company at once, and Sherman has said in an email to Esports Insider: “Upon my resignation and that of my team, we will now be able to continue our track record of firsts in a variety of new ways. I also intend to create and produce more esports programming across TV and digital which is something that would not be possible as an agent.”

WME/IMG plan to replace the team, according to reports, and will continue their work with ELEAGUE.
