Gearbox confirms Borderlands 2

A sequel to 2009 role-playing shooter Borderlands is currently in development at Gearbox Software.

A source told Eurogamer that an official announcement will be made soon, and that the shooter will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.

The original Borderlands was released in 2009 and was supported throughout last year with some sizeable DLC expansions. The game is a cel-shaded role-playing shooter with randomly generated weapons.

Gearbox’s most recent release Duke Nukem Forever, which hit shelves back in June. It is also working on Sega’s Aliens: Colonial Marines and Ubisoft’s Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.
