Maker Studios launches PewDiePie app on iOS

YouTube star PewDiePie now has his very own app on iOS.

The Guardian reports that the Maker Studios developed download allows direct access to the Swede’s YouTube content, as ell as the ability to create their own custom favourite feeds, as well as share clips on social media.

Admittedly it’s not a huge step up in convenience compared to using vanilla YouTube, but with mobile now accounting for almost 40 per cent of the streaming video site’s traffic it seems like a logical move for Maker – particularly if it harbours ambitions to nurture its own video platform independent of YouTube.

In June 2014 PewDiePie attracted 351m views.

In March it was revealed that Disney is to acquire Maker Studios in a deal that could be worth as much as $1bn.

Last month it was revealed that Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg currently makes around $4m per year. He was the single most watched individual on YouTube in the second half of 2013 with 1.28bn views.
