Capcom explains Monster Hunter switch

, one of a number of announcements at Nintendo’s recent press conference was that Monster Hunter 3 will be a Wii-only title – and now Capcom has explained the reasons for its change of heart.

Having previously been a PlayStation-only series, Monster Hunter 3 had previously been announced for development on PS3. The PS2 and PSP versions of the series had to date sold over 4.5 million copies.

However, Gamesindustry reports that Capcom’s managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii told Thompson Financial that: Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title.”
