TGS: 360 dashboard update next month

Microsoft has dated the launch of ‘the new Xbox experience’ 360 dashboard update for November 19th.

The new firmware was first unveiled at E3 this year and will introduce Microsoft’s Wii-style avatar system, Live Party, more on-demand HD entertainment and a Community Games channel – all part of the overhauled 360 interface.

It will also allow gamers to install games onto the Xbox 360’s hard drive, meaning that whilst the disc will still need to be in the machine to play, the console should run cooler and quieter over extended plat sessions. Loading times are also said to improve for many titles.

Xbox 360 continues to be the destination of choice for the best and broadest games from the world’s biggest and best developers,” said Microsoft’s corporate vice president of LIVE, Software and Studios John Schappert.
