PS3 Home edges closer to launch

Sony has launched a

brand new web portal

for its long-awaited PS3 social networking service Home, adding weight to the claims that the service should arrive before the end of the year.

In addition, in the last week Sony is believed to have sent out an additional 100,000 invites to gamers, giving them the opportunity to download Home and start exploring.

Last week Sony also updated its Home beta client to version 1.0, the same version that will eventually be turned into an open beta that any PS3 owner will be able to participate in.

There’s still no firm launch date on the cards for Home, but with many having expected its arrival for well over a year, at least a launch before the end of the year is looking probable.
