NPD: Sales growth continues for PS3

Sony has revealed that its’ year-to-date sales of its PS3 hardware are currently up an impressive 60 per cent on 2007’s numbers, and its November performance, which saw over a million PlayStation units sold, represents a hefty 93 per cent improvement over October.

PS3 in isolation shifted 378,071 machines, an increase of nearly 100 per cent compared to October, bringing the machine’s total 2008 sales to over 2.8 million units. 3,552,456 PS3 games were also sold in the period, representing year-to-date growth of 150 per cent.

PSP continues to prove that it has plenty left to give, too, with the Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters bundle selling 420,539 units – an increase of 118 per cent over October. And don’t forget PS2 either – its LEGO Batman bundle shifted a creditable 205,944 units.

It total, year-to-date growth is rife across the PlayStation selection, with sales of the PlayStation brand overall currently 11 per cent up on last year. Year-to-date hardware sales are up nine per cent on 2007 and software sales are up 16 per cent.
