Capcom income drops 95% year-to-date

Japanese publisher and developer Capcom has revealed that net income for the nine months ending December 31st 2008 fell a massive 95 per cent to YEN 179m, down from the YEN 3.97bn in the same period the year before.

Sales decreased by 8.6 per cent, reaching YEN 47,223m. Operating income was also down 57 per cent.

Capcom blamed ‬the slacking performance of arcade operations and contents expansion business‭”‬ for the numbers, as well as the vastly increased value of the Yen. It also lamented a lack of big-hitting consol releases and the full decimation” of the handheld market.
