Intergrow buys Marvelous Entertainmentâ??s 50% stake in RSG but firm agrees new publishing deal

Rising Star retains Marvelous rights

Contrary to widespread reports, MCV has confirmed that Rising Star Games has once again secured the rights to publish Marvelous Entertainment’s ongoing video games catalogue.

However, a share restructure means Marvelous has sold its controlling stake in RSG to Japanese publisher Intergrow, which also part-owns publisher Gamebridge.

Develop was one of the publications suggesting that Rising Star Games had lost the rights to publish Marvelous Entertainment goods, with the Tokyo-headquartered group turning to a licensing model for future overseas deals.

But the new agreement ensures that popular brands such as Harvest Moon continue to be released under the RSG label in the UK.

Full story and the view of Rising Star MD Martin Defries can be found at MCV.

Tokyo-headquartered Marvelous owns various studios and businesses around the world. It absorbed game developer Runtime Inc back in 2008, and owns recording studio Delfi sound, and animation studio Artland.
