Valve eying up PS3 development

Acclaimed developer Valve may be on the verge of ending its self-imposed absence from PS3 development by assuring fans that it will end up supporting Sony’s increasingly popular console at some stage in the future.
However, it seems that any such move may still be some way off.

Before we do anything on the PS3 we need to be able to support it in the right way,” Left 4 Dead writer Chet Faliszek told Edge. But we’ll look at it, and I’m sure down the road we’ll do it.”

The developer of titles such as Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead and Portal has famously refused to bring its games to PS3 owing to the console’s unique development architecture.

Valve’s The Orange Box did make the move to PS3, though only because publisher EA handled porting duties – coming in for plenty of criticism in the process owing to what many regarded as the poor quality of the conversion.
