Modern FPS games are boring

Having revealed to the world earlier this month that he’s heading up development of a brand new mystery FPS title at Codemasters, Stuart Black has accused modern FPS shooters of being f***ing boring”.

Black was the leading developer of EA’s similarly titled PS2 and Xbox FPS Black, which was released in 2006.

There’s a lot of cover-based shooters out at the moment,” Black told CVG.

But when a guy hunkers down behind something, you’ve just got to sit there and wait for him to pop his head up. Pops up, couple of bullets to his head, pops back down again. And I’m waiting for him to pop back up again?

F***ing boring. I can’t be bothered hanging around like that.”
