US: 360 enjoys biggest ever Feb

Despite having reached what traditionally would have been regarded as retirement age in console years, Xbox 360 has just enjoyed its best ever February in the US.

Microsoft’s machine sold 422k units in the period – ahead of both the Wii (398k) and the PS3 (360k).

The Xbox 360 SKU of 2K Games’ BioShock 2 was also the best selling title of the month. Third party game sales on the platform hit $170m throughout the month, making it the most lucrative platform for publishers.

Thanks to a stellar portfolio of exclusive blockbuster games, a fresh pipeline of new content on Xbox Live and high anticipation for controller-free gaming and entertainment with Project Natal for Xbox 360, I’m pleased to announce we had the biggest February in Xbox 360 history,” the COO of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business Dennis Durkin stated.

This month’s NPD results are a further proof point to what will be our biggest – and best – year in Xbox history.”
