Silent Hunter 5 recalled in Germany

Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic has been recalled in Germany, due to offending World War 2-related imagery.

Ubisoft has pulled the collector’s edition of the PC submarine war simulator, which features swastikas in its bonus content. The normal version of the game remains on sale.

It is against German law to display the swastika symbol. Ubisoft Romania didn’t remove the sign from the game and manual before its release in Germany.

The game allows players to take control of a German U-boat and go up against allied forces in battles across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.

Silent Hunter 5 was released on March 5th and went straight to no.8 in the PC games charts last week. The UK version is unaffected by the recall.
