E3 2010: Gran Turismo 5 blowout

It’s finally in sight. Gran Turismo 5 has a release date, albeit a US one. And with the shock news has come a tonne of new gameplay information.

Polyphony Digital’s game will include over 1000 licensed cars and over 70 different circuits spread across 20 individual tracks. Licenses supported include WRC World Rally, Super GT and NASCAR.

Real-time damage is confirmed, with car deformation based both on the speed and point of impact. It’s just aesthetic, though – the damage won’t affect the performance of your vehicle.

As well as an assortment of online community features, 16-player multiplayer is present and correct though privately hosted sessions will have the capacity to support up to 32 players. Voice chat is also included, as is offline two-player split-screen.

Content obtained from associated portal Gran Turismo TV will be available both in SD and HD and can be uploaded to a PSP housing a copy of Gran Turismo. Also included is a video upload function that posts game footage on YouTube.

As previously reported, games already unlocked in PSP’s Gran Turismo can be transferred to the PS3 game.
