Mass Effect 3 leads VGA reveals

A number of 2011’s biggest hitters were seen for the first time over the weekend at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.

Leading was the charge was EA’s Mass Effect 3. BioWare’s latest RPG title is due out on Xbox 360, PC and PS3, marking the first time that the series has arrived on Sony’s console in conjunction with Microsoft’s machines.

The games sees Commander Shephard return to earth, where we are presented with London falling under attack from a race of unspecified adversaries.

Also announced was the rumoured new entry in Bethesda’s popular RPG series Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (due out November 11th 2011), Sony’s Resistance 3 (due out September 6th 2011) and Uncharted 3 (due out November 1st 2011) and Microsoft’s Forza 4, which will support Kinect.

Activision lifted the lid on the expected new entry in the Prototype series and THQ named its collaboration with Guillermo Del Toro – Insane, which is due out in 2013.

Other titles on show included EA’s new SSX title, Deadly Descents. There were also new trailers for Batman: Arkham City and Portal 2.

However, missing from the action was the expected reveal of a new Gears of War title (possibly with Kinect support), with Microsoft confirming shortly before the event that it will show the title at a later date.
