PlayStation app hitting iPhone, Android

Sony has confirmed that it plans to release an official PlayStation app for iPhone and Android mobile devices.

The app will allow users to check their PSN Trophies, monitor the online status of friends, check out the latest news from the European PlayStation blog and post to Twitter and Facebook.

Initially it will launch in UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, with wider regional support promised in the near future. Sony also claims that additional features are already in the works.

The app will only be compatible with iOS4 and above on iPhone and OS 1.6 and above for Android. No release date has yet been announced.
