Enslaved fails to sell 500k

It has emerged that last year’s critical hit Enslaved failed to sell 500k copies despite the almost unanimous praise it received from the press.

Eurogamer reports that the actual sales figure for the Ninja Theory developed titles, which starred the voice talents and likeness of Andy ‘Gollum’ Serkis, stand at 460k units.

Despite the numbers, MCV was last month told by Namco Bandai’s UK marketing director Lee Kirton that the strength of the game’s critical reception could yet see the path paved for a sequel.

It didn’t perform as well as we hoped it would, but we’re very proud of how it was received by both the media and the gamers who have experienced it,” he said.

I can’t discuss where we are in terms of a sequel, but we’re looking at reviews and feedback from the press and because of the gameplay and quality that Enslaved delivered, we see it as a great catalogue title going forward.”
