New date for Gears of War 3

Platform holder Microsoft has announced a new – and hopefully definitive – release date for Gears of War 3 on Xbox 360.

The game will now be released worldwide on Tuesday September 20th 2011. The only exception to this is Japan where the game will be released on September 22nd.

The game had originally been pencilled in for an April 2011 release but a delay was announced in October of last year.

Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011,” an announcement from the time read. The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the spring of 2011.

However, we’ve elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season.”
