Layton dominates Japanese 3DS launch

Professor Layton’s latest adventure was the best-selling 3DS launch title, with over 117,500 copies sold during the handheld’s opening weekend.

The newest entry in the Level 5’s popular puzzle series – Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle – sold nearly one copy for every three handhelds shifted, according to Kotaku.

Layton’s sales triumph was revealed by figures from Japanese media giant Enterbrain, which also claimed 3DS sales over the first two days came in at over 371,000 units – slightly less than the 400,000 units reported earlier.

The 3DS launched on Saturday and is already in short supply. The new handheld arrives in the UK on March 25th, two days before its debut in the US.
