EA: Insomniac game is Overstrike

The first game to emerge from the publishing deal between EA and developer Insomniac has been named – it’s Overdrive.

The games being developed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, though no release date has yet been given.

Overdrive’s main hook is cooperative multiplayer for four gamers, each of whom plays one character in the Overstrike 9 elite agent squad. Teamwork and the use of "fringe-tech" gadgets are the recipe for success.

Overstrike presents a unique blend of features that have long been a part of the Insomniac DNA: high powered gadgets, action-heavy gameplay, memorable characters in a deep and mysterious universe and of course a touch of humour,” Insomniac founder and CEO Ted Price stated.

And since this is our first multiplatform game, we’re especially excited to introduce ourselves to a new audience – one which may not have experienced our previous games.”

Insomniac was also at hand to demo Resistance 3 at the Sony press conference.
