Nintendo is withdrawing the 3DS XL from the Japanese market

The 3DS XL is being dropped in Japan before its successor has even been released in the West.

Siliconera reports that Nintendo’s Japanese 3DS XL page lists all seven colour variants of the model as ending production soon”, presumably with an eye to the New 3DS XL becoming the go-to model in the region.

The situation is different for the standard 3DS, however, with a number of versions seemingly remaining in production.

The New 3DS XL has been the best-selling version of the handheld in japan ever since it first released in October but has yet to receive a release date in either the UK or America.
