PlayStation Now lets gamers stream PS3 games to PS4, Vita and TVs

A new PlayStation service is launching that will let people play PS3 games through their TVs without the need for a console.

PlayStation Now is the name of the streaming service that will launch in the US this Summer. It lets gamers stream PS3 games to PS3, PS4 and, eventually, PS Vita.

It will also let gamers stream these games to most US models of Sony’s Bravia TVs. Eventually, the firm wants PlayStation Now to be accessible through a variety of internet-connected devices – not just Sony products.

Gamers can rent the games they want to play or choose a subscription services, and will support trophies and online multiplayer.

The announcement was made at CES 2014, with the service demonstrated at the show. A Beta for the service will go live in the US from the end of January.

PS Now will allow users to engage in the world of PlayStation, whether they’re existing fans or have never owned a PlayStation platform

It follows Sony’s acquisition of games streaming platform Gaikai in 2011.
