SONY: PS4 install base hits 10m

The PlayStation 4 has sold over 10m units worldwide.

That’s the news from Sony’s Jim Ryan, who revealed the number at the start of Sony’s Gamescom 2014 press briefing, before personally thanking Sony boss Andrew House who was watching from the audience.

Microsoft’s most recent Xbox One sales update was last month when it revealed that the console has shipped 5m units to retail worldwide. Sales have not been specified.

Most recent data suggests that PS4 is currently outselling Xbox One by a ratio of 3-to-1, although Microsoft’s machine will launch in over 20 additional territories next month.
