Steam posts new concurrent user record to close out 2014

Steam users came out in droves during the holiday break, with Valve’s digital distribution service scoring a new record in total concurrent users over the past weekend.

Blue’s News reports Steam’s game and player stats page showed users peaking out at 8,357,541 on Sunday, December 28th at one point.

DOTA 2 and this past week’s Steam best sellers chart topper Counter-Strike: Global Offensive showed the most activity during the period. Team Fortress 2, Football Manager 2015 and Skyrim were also among the most popular titles during the stretch.

Valve’s service first bested 8m concurrent users during its 2014 summer sale. It previously surpassed 7m users just over a year ago, during 2013’s holiday season.
