SWTOR removed from EA release schedule

As of last night, Star Wars: The Old Republic no longer appears in EA’s release schedule.

Earlier this year MCV revealed that EA was targeting a September 2011 release for the game. The story was greeted with disdain and abuse from a large contingent of BioWare’s fanbase in the MCV comments sections, who refused to believe the title would miss its previously announced spring 2011 release.

So news that the game could now miss 2011 entirely is unlikely to go down well.

"We’re holding the date for two reasons," EA Games boss Frank Gibeau stated. "First, we don’t want to tip off the competition; second, we want more data from the beta test to guarantee a spectacular experience at launch."

EA still anticipates the game will release this calendar year but admits that January 2012 remains a possibility.
