Valve sends cease and desist orders to CSGO gambling sites

Begun, the CSGO gambling wars have.

Valve has sent letters to 23 sites that specialise in the gambling of Counter Strike Global Offensive weapon skins, giving them 10 days to change how they operate before it brings out the big guns.

Kotaku has confirmed the letter’s legitimacy. So far at least two sites, CSGO Big and CSGO Wild, have seemingly conceded defeat. Others such as CSGO2x and CSGO500 have indicated that big changes are in the offing.

You are using Steam accounts to conduct this business. Your use of Steam is subject to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement (SSA”),” the letter reads. Under the SSA Steam and Steam services are licensed for persona, non-commercial use only.

Your commercial use of Steam accounts is unlicensed and in violation of the SSA. You should immediately cease and desist further use of your Steam accounts for any commercial purposes. If you fail to do this within ten days Valve will pursue all available remedies including without limitation terminating your accounts.”

Twitch yesterday blocked the account of one popular streamer who has been involved with CSGO gambling.
