YouTube Gaming website and mobile apps launch today

YouTube Gaming will officially launch later today, with the service tracking gaming videos and livestreams for more than 25,000 games.

The YouTube Gaming website and mobile apps are set to arrive at some point during the day, with Youtube and parent company Google aiming to offer a wide variety of video game-related content including personal recommendations for users based on the pages and channels they follow.

For livestreamers, Google offers youtube.com/stream – currently in beta – to provide an easy method for streaming at a personal URL.

"Together, we all make gaming better," YouTube Gaming engineering manager Frank Petterson stated. "Our peers make us better gamers, and games are made better by the communities that surround them."

YouTube Gaming is to launch initially on an English-language website. The iOS and Android apps will arrive first in the UK and US, and are "coming soon” to other countries.
