Triumphant Eurogamer Expo returning in 2012

The doors have finally closed on this year’s Eurogamer Expo, and already the company has announced the dates for next year’s event.

Eurogamer Expo 2012 will take place at Earls Court once again between September 27th and September 30th. And Eurogamer boss Rupert Loman is already thinking about the expo’s expansion.

We’re growing in terms of floor space and capacity and features at the show. It’s full steam ahead,” he told MCV.
We have a lot of room to grow, there are more halls within Earls Court we can take. We’ll go into planning mode and then work out how much we can use. We’re looking forward to sharing more details on the 2012 show soon.”

In total 34,500 visitors flocked through the doors over the four days, including over 2,000 press and industry visitors.

Highlights included the UK launch of games streaming service OnLive and the first European hands on of titles such as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

BioWare also used the show to announce the much anticipated release date of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

This year’s Eurogamer Expo was a massive success. We sold out of tickets in advance, we’ve just had incredible feedback,” Loman added.

Attendance has nearly doubled from last year’s show. We’ve got pretty much every major game on the showfloor. We’ve got the developer sessions with international speakers and the whole show in terms of scale and size and importance has ramped up massively.

The response we’ve had from the gaming community and the games industry has been incredibly positive. The event has grown very quickly but the great thing is that the show has such a brilliant and welcoming atmosphere.”

Eurogamer has today named NCsoft’s Guild Wars 2 as its Game of the Show.
