3DS reaches 1m sales in Japan

Nintendo’s 3DS has now passed the 1m unit sales barrier in Japan.

However, as reported by Andriasang, it took the machine 13 weeks to reach the milestone. Its predecessor the DS managed the same in just four weeks.

Other iterations of the DS have also been quicker out of the blocks. Both the DS Lite and DSi did it in eight weeks, though the super-sized DSi XL took 25 weeks to hit 1m.

Nintendo has not publicly announced lifetime 3DS sales numbers for the UK.
